Welcome to The Aslam Hayat Legacy Archive

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

We are honoured to launch this digital archive as a permanent home for the life, writings, and lasting legacy of Aslam Hayat — scholar, writer, devoted father, and beloved member of our community.

Why This Archive

When someone of deep character and wide influence passes from this world, there is always the danger that their voice will fade with time — that the essays they wrote at dawn, the words they offered in counsel, the photographs that captured quiet moments of family life, will scatter and be lost.

This archive exists to prevent that loss.

Every article Aslam Hayat wrote in Urdu — whether a philosophical reflection, a commentary on contemporary society, or a meditation on faith — deserves to be read by those who never had the chance to encounter it in print. Every Facebook post that brought a morning insight to thousands of followers deserves to be preserved beyond the ephemerality of social media feeds. Every photograph deserves a caption, a date, and a context that rescues it from the anonymity of a hard drive.

What You Will Find Here

The Articles section contains his Urdu writings alongside English translations, so that readers of both languages can access his thought. The side-by-side translation feature allows the two languages to be read together — the original Urdu on the right, the English rendering on the left, separated by a thin gold line, as if in conversation.

The Timeline traces the arc of his life from his birth in Lahore in 1945 through the decades of his professional work, his family life, and his final years of continued writing and reflection.

The Gallery collects photographs from across his life — professional occasions, family gatherings, moments of quiet domesticity, and public recognition.

The Facebook Archive preserves the posts and reflections he shared in the last years of his life, when social media gave him a new and unexpectedly wide audience for his daily meditations.

An Invitation

This archive is not a finished project. It is a living document, and we need your help to make it complete.

If you knew Aslam Hayat — as a colleague, a student, a reader, a neighbour, or a friend — we invite you to submit your memories. A brief anecdote, a photograph, a letter he wrote to you, a memory of something he said that stayed with you — all of these matter and all of them will be welcomed.

Please visit the Submit a Memory page to share what you hold.

A Note on the Archive's Design

This site has been designed to honour its subject. The deep greens and warm parchment tones, the classical typography, the careful attention to how Urdu text is displayed — these are not merely aesthetic choices. They are a form of respect.

Aslam Hayat cared deeply about how language looked on the page. He believed that beautiful writing deserved beautiful presentation. We have tried to honour that belief here.

With gratitude and love, The Family of Aslam Hayat
